Gamer Dude is a 2D top-down shooter that blends nostalgic retro gaming aesthetics with a modern twist. Packed with playful references to computers, internet culture, and iconic memes, the game creates a fun and chaotic atmosphere that’s both relatable and humorous. Players can discover clever easter eggs and engage with funny NPCs, adding personality to the computer world!

The main objective is to dodge or fight the enemies and to try advancing through the various levels by finding portals.

The story begins with an ordinary guy who wakes up to find himself trapped inside a video game—a realm that’s no longer just for fun. As he navigates this digital battleground, players will encounter enemies that chase them, mysteries, and comedic dialogue that keep the experience unpredictable.

Developed for the ROG Game Jam 2024, Gamer Dude captures the spirit of retro gaming while infusing it with modern sensibilities and the "Republic of Gamers" theme, offering a thrilling adventure that appeals to gamers of all generations.

The mechanics are as simple as aiming with the mouse while moving with WASD and picking up powerups and new weapons that drop from slain enemies or weapons you find scattered around the map to make your arsenal really pop! But be careful of which weapon you pick because it might be the last! 

Most importantly, have fun and try to find all of the weapons, the bosses, the dialogue choices with "handye", your friendly companion in the digital world, and stick around to see the twist ending! Can you discover the reference?
